Thoughts on Growth Mindset
(Rainbow Brain, from Wikipedia ) Before this, I had not heard of the specific terminology "growth mindset". However, I am somewhat familiar with the ideas behind it. It seems to be more oriented at, as the title suggests, helping the students grow rather than handling things in a manner that might make them feel lesser than their peers. There is a small difference between the mentioned school's concept of "not yet" and the word "failed". I think it could make some difference if implemented across more school districts in the nation, but I do not think the difference is substantial enough. In the end, I believe that the "not yet" grade would become the new "F" in the eyes of students. To this end, I don't necessarily think that it works well enough to implement.
